Reading up on the Inauguration made my heart swell. The big hopes that this country has at a time when all hope seems lost was evident when thousands gathered in Washington, D.C. to witness such a momentous occasion. The First Family looked as lovely as ever and were the picture of a great American family -- united, strong, and ready to face whatever came their way.
Fashionably speaking, Mrs. Michelle Obama's choice in both her inauguration dress and her inaugural gown was anything but simple. Classically elegant yet modern in design and color, Mrs. Obama chose a lovely lemongrass number by New York fashion designer Isabel Toledo. According to the International Herald Tribune, Toledo did not even know until the morning of the inauguration that the President's lovely wife had selected her specially designed dress to wear for the day. Talk about a pleasant surprise!
For the highly anticipated Inaugural Ball, Mrs. Obama made her debut as First Lady in an one-shoulder ivory-colored chiffon gown. Newsday reports that "The dress, with a strap across one shoulder, ruched bodice, fluffy appliqués and sparkling beading, will (as tradition dictates) be donated to the Smithsonian." Made my another New York designer, by way of Taiwan, Jason Wu has officially become a household name.
Words every woman loves to hear from the man in her life.
I have a great feeling about this. Don't you?
