For the repressed naughty schoolgirl in you. {Oh, come on. You know she's in there somewhere!}
First and foremost: Happy Monday! Did everyone have a wonderful weekend? It was quite a scorcher here but I was able to cool off with some delicious iced tea, a nice afternoon breeze, and freshly cut pineapple. Sometimes, those three things are just what you need to cool off.
In any case, I squealed with delight when I came across these gems. They totally go back to my days as a kid in the early 90s wanting the coolest kicks. Lucky us, L.A. Gear has decided to bring back an entirely new collection of their own throwback "Old Skool". So rad!

Hello, friends! Happy Friday!
I cannot tell you how happy
I am that the weekend is here.
What are your plans?
This weekend is a little bittersweet for me.
You see, my very good friend Andrea
is moving to Japan
for four months on Sunday!
And while, yes, her adventure will be an
incredible one (to say the least),
that is not to say that she will be missed by
all of us here (especially by this guy!).
So, from the Sunshine State
to the Land of the Rising Sun,
we bid adieu, or should I say, sayonara,
to her and will see her when she returns!

Happy Friday! Have you seen this movie?! What a great film! Dubbed a "Ramen Western", this movie was released in 1985 in Japan. I don't know why it took me so long to see this, but I'm glad I did. Everything about it was memorable. AND it made me appreciate the art of the noodle that much more.
{P.S. A very young Ken Watanabe is in this movie! Look at how adorable he is here!}

These gorgeous photos by Dutch photographer Siebe Warmoeskerken make me so happy. They also make me want to indulge in some sort of late afternoon cookie / coffee combination. Talk about perfection!

This awesome print by Benjamin Jónsson made my morning that much better. Apparently, this print was submitted for a contest whose theme happened to be "beards". {As if that wasn't cool enough, this print was actually inspired by pro-skateboarder Chris Haslam! Whaaa!?}

I'm torn. On one hand, I would really love a fixed-gear bike. On the other hand, I could go for this one above. Is it so wrong to want this bicycle so very badly?

After seeing this post from Nina, I had to see what the hype on these birds was about. And wow, I'm glad I did. They are gorgeous! Based out of Mexico City, Geninne creates some gorgeous artwork. She also has a blog! See her ETSY store here and her blog here.
{Thanks, Nina!}

Sweden has done it again. (WTF? I have no idea how the rest of the world can catch up with them...) Minimarket has become a cult-favorite thanks to their affordable line of clothing (read: everything is between $75 ~ $225)! How great is that?! Riding caps, polka dots, and platform lace-up sandals. Talk about fashion heaven.

Although I was a little wishy-washy on 500 Days of Summer, this video was just too adorable not to post. That Zooey and that Joseph! SO cute, those two!
This house, called Casa X, in Quito, Ecuador is STUNNING. It has all the elements that make me want to build one just like it: glass, wood, steel, modern, box. I want to go to there.

{In an effort to create more of an organized life for myself, I have decided to compartmentalize some of my postings into themed days. And thus, starting today, say hello to the birth of "Shoe Me The Monday".}
Can you believe these shoes are from Payless?! Designer brands such as ABAETÉ and Lela Rose have all collaborated with Payless to bring us the most adorable chaussures to don whenever we'd like to. Love!

Dear friends:
Happy Friday! How was your week?
Mine was a bit on the {meh} side due to
lack of sleep,
a myriad of thoughts,
ideas of organization,
and general "where is my life going?" stuff.
Oh, the glue that binds me together is
wearing thin and I apologize for the
sparseness in my posts.
But I first, and foremost, wanted to say
something to you all.
THANK YOU thank you THANK YOU thank you
so much for reading/viewing my blog.
What started off as something to do
to pass the time has actually opened me up
to discover a world full of
beautiful design,food, architecture, fashion,
and most especially people:
YOU!
After reading this post from the wonderful
Celia, I could not have said it better myself.
It just warms my heart to know that
we all share the same sorts of daydreams.
And this blog has certainly proven that.
So much is changing for Ryan and me right now--both
small (but by no means less important) and large
(I'm talking HUGE life-changing monumental decisions)
and it leaves me both a little bit frightened
and terribly excited at what the future will unfold for us.
And although I have been feeling the stresses
through my comatose teeth-
grinding and incredibly strange and vivid
dreams throughout the night,I have also been
thanking my lucky stars that everything
has happened just as it has.
I wouldn't change anything.
So, again, I apologize for my lack of posting.
I promise to hit the reset button in no time.
xoxo,
TFH.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to arrange your entire book collection by color? Just look at how the rainbow spectrum creates such a gorgeous backdrop in this lovely living room!

This made me laugh. And smile. And feel all sorts of happy. The Indie Rock Coloring Book is a 32-page coloring book put together by such indie acts as The Shins, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bon Iver, and Broken Social Scene (just to name a few of the 20 bands involved) have all collaborated with Montreal-based NPO Yellow Bird Project to support charities of the artists' choosing. All proceeds go to charities! Animated by UK-based illustrator Andy J. Miller, this coloring book is will entertain both kids and indie-rock lovers alike. Get your own copy here. I love this!

Oof. Monday mornings are the bane of my existence. I wish there was some sort of magic reset button that I could push so I wasn't so groggy. Alas, there isn't. But there is GQ's list of the 50 Most Stylish Men. That'll do, right? That'll do.

Aren't you glad the weekend's here finally here?
I know I am! Any plans? This weekend, I'm hoping to:
1. Try to find a cute pair of navy shorts.
{Like these, perhaps?}
2. Meet up with a friend and talk talk talk
over brownies and red wine.
{Yum!}
3. Catch the latest showing of this movie.
{I know I will be sobbing!}
4. Go on a bike ride.
5. Play with my boys.
6. Catch up on some much needed zzzzz's.
7. Be lazy. Seriously.
8. Organize my closet.
{How daunting!}
9. Get some fresh air by taking a looooong walk!
10. Go to this show and support my friends!
11. Be surprised by the husband who is
taking me on a fantastic super-secret date!
12. See this movie. Oh, Michael Cera, you are awkwardly adorable!
13. Indulge in the season premiere of MAD MEN!
Have a wonderful weekend!
