manhole.

The majority of manhole covers look something like this or this. Pretty nondescript and made not to stand out. Their function, after all, is to cover up a hole to prevent passers-by from falling in and to cover the entry/exit of the great underground sewer system. And yet, the Japanese, with their ability to make everything look pretty, have managed to do just that with their manhole covers. {My favorite is the 3rd one down--Godzilla!}
