Today is my dad's birthday. This is one of his favorite songs and every time I hear it, I can't help but get a little weepy. Happy Birthday, Papa!
These are great renditions of classic album covers done in the minimalist fashion. {I especially love The Velvet Underground and Nico cover!}

A HUGE thanks goes out to everyone who was supportive of me and for all the kind words that you left. It warmed my heart and if I could, I would give all of you a big hug.
All right. Here it comes. I've got to get something off my chest because it's been bothering me all morning: I just don't understand why certain people find it in their best interest to burst my bubble or rain on my parade for no. effing. reason. Does that ever happen to you? You have some pretty incredible news (more on that in an all-together entirely different post) and you want to share it, only to have the person you're talking to tell you that you're not responsible enough (and before you jump to conclusions, it's NOT a baby...ha!).
It's like other people are under different assumptions of who you are as a person and it hurts your esteem because you have to wonder where people got those ideas in the first place. Does that make sense? Or am I rambling? In any case, it's just so aggravating because there isn't anything to do to change that person's mind about you. Oof. Apologies for the hrmph-ness of this post. I'm just feeling irked. I promise I'll be back tomorrow. With bells on!

Loving these photos and how they have a very Betty Draper feel about them.

Dear Ryan,
With our upside down busy work schedules, I think that another date night is in order. What do you think? Just say 'okay' and I'll plan the whole thing. My treat.
Love,
TFH.

I know it isn't even remotely time for lunch. I am aware of this. Yet, this morning, I woke up knowing that tonight was going to be a good one. You see, one of Ryan's oldest and dearest friends is turning 70 today and to celebrate, we are joining her for an Italian dinner this evening. So exciting! The only thing I can't stop thinking about is cannelloni al forno. Oh, yum.

Today was a doozy for me. I woke up with the worst back-ache in the world and spent the majority of the day stretching out, doing yoga, and hydrating. I honestly think all of that meat from the cook-out really did a number on me. In any case, I've been having lots of fruit and veggies, like I had planned to do. Luckily, it has helped and I am feeling pretty good. Thank goodness, because tomorrow, I am planning on having a proper tea date with some lovely girlfriends of mine. And the rest of the weekend looks like it'll be rainy and relaxing! What do you have in store for the weekend? Do tell!

The past few days have left me feeling pretty gross...and that's actually an understatement. This past Monday evening, a few of our neighbors decided to have an impromptu cook-out in our apartment's courtyard. And it was awesome. We're talking bratwurst, burgers, grilled chicken, corn on the cob, asparagus, et al. And yet, the only things I ate were the first three things on the list: the meats. Oh, and to make it worse, I actually ate a hot dog earlier that day with the in-laws. Talk about an excess of processed meats (ew). While it seemed like a good idea at the time (when is this ever a good idea, really?), my stomach and well-being are now disappointed in my choice. Hello! I never, if rarely (!) eat this way and I pride myself on having a fairly balanced diet (with the exception of a once-in-a-blue-moon ice cream). I've felt nothing but uncomfortable for the past four days. And so I've made up my mind to feed my body what it wants: an over-abundance of fresh fruits, fresh veggies, whole grains, and lots of barley tea and water. That always seems to help. What do you guys eat when you feel this heavy? Any advice is welcome!

Last night was one of those rare nights for me. Super-friends invited me out for an impromptu sneak-preview of Scott Pilgrim v. The World and the movie totally delivered. It was mega-entertaining, to say the least, and the music was pretty fantastic. I've never been one to read graphic novels but after seeing this, I'm thinking maybe I should start. Do you guys read graphic novels? What are your favorites?
I don't know what my problem has been the past week. I don't have any good excuses for my lack of posting. I've just been, dare I say it, lazy. It's been hard to get up in the mornings and even harder to find inspiration to post anything worthwhile. That said, I'm going to try my darndest to fill this week with posts for all of you lovely readers.

I choose flight! Apologies for the static these past few days. I've just been over the moon about some news that I'd love to share. After several years of planning, Ryan and I have finally purchased our tickets to go to Japan in October! The leaves are supposed to be changing right around that time so it will be beautiful. I can hardly contain myself. This trip is not only going to be one of great fun, it will be one of great importance. You see, Ryan and my dad have never met (eeps!) so it will be an incredible meeting of two forces--the man in my life and the man who gave me life. There will be reunions of friends and family, late-night karaoke, much "lost in translation", subways, trains, walks, and an abundance of food that I cannot wait to sink my teeth into! {Only 61 more days....}
